Interface
A map of Studio: what each bar, panel and button does, and where to find it.
Top bar
From left to right. In a narrow window, some items move into the logo menu.
| Element | What it does |
|---|---|
| Logo | takes you back to your projects |
| Project name | the name of this project |
| Menu (☰) | the project, edit, add and view menus |
| Comments | drop a pin, show pins in the scene, show resolved ones |
| Undo / Redo | your own edit history |
| 3D / 2D | switches the canvas mode |
| Toolbar | + to add an object, plus your pinned tools |
| Avatars | who else is editing right now |
| Publish | turns the project into a link |
The menu has four groups:
- Project — rename the project, or go to its page in your account.
- Edit — undo, redo, copy, cut, paste, duplicate and delete.
- Add — objects and lights.
- View — show or hide each bar, reset the camera, switch to orthographic view, show or hide the axes, split the canvas into four views, turn on path tracing, render an image, show or hide settings and comments, and go full screen.
Left rail
Each icon opens a panel or a window. The name of each icon shows when you point at it. From top to bottom:
| Icon | Opens |
|---|---|
| AI assistant | build a scene from a description |
| Scenes | your spaces and scenes |
| Layers & assets | the object tree and your files |
| Asset library | content and uploads |
| Patch editor | logic as a node graph |
| Animation | the timeline editor |
| Material editor | your own materials, built from nodes |
| Project settings | analytics, languages, domain |
| Scene UI | the interface layer |
| Plugins | plugins you can add to Studio |
These sit at the bottom of the rail:
| Icon | Opens |
|---|---|
| Scene info | numbers about the current scene, and tips to make it faster |
| Shortcuts | the keyboard shortcuts |
| FAQ | this documentation, in a new tab |
| API & MCP | your API tokens page, for connecting AI tools |
AI assistant, Asset library, Plugins and API & MCP are there only when you are signed in.
You can drag the icons to change their order. Right-click the rail to choose which icons it shows. If you switch the rail off, bring it back with View → Navigation bar.
Canvas
| Element | What it does |
|---|---|
| Orientation gizmo | the axes in the bottom-right corner; click a face to snap the camera to that view |
| Selection toolbar | move, rotate, scale, select, hand — appears next to the selected object |
| Hover outline | shows what you are about to click |
3D is the normal view. You can switch its camera between perspective and orthographic.
2D shows everything flat. Use it to lay out interface-style content and to line things up precisely.
Quad view
View → Quad view (Ctrl + Alt + Q) splits the canvas into four: Top, Front,
Right and your own camera. In the flat views, scroll to zoom, drag empty space to pan, and
drag an object to move it in that plane. Double-click an object to frame it, or empty space to see
the whole scene.
Path tracing
View → Path tracing (Shift + Z) follows rays of light as they bounce around the scene.
You see soft shadows, reflections and light from nearby surfaces. The picture starts grainy and
gets cleaner every moment. The first time, getting ready can take up to a minute.
Its settings, next to the progress counter, trade speed for quality. Press Turn off, or the same menu item, to go back to the normal view.
Render an image
View → Render image… (Shift + F12) saves a path-traced picture of the scene as a PNG.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Camera | As in the viewport, or one of the scene's cameras |
| Size | the size of the viewport, or your own |
| Samples per pixel | more is cleaner, and takes longer |
| Light bounces | how many times light bounces between surfaces |
| Project post-processing | adds the project's effects |
| Transparent background | leaves the background empty |
Press Render. The noise fades with every sample. Stop and keep finishes early with what you have. Then press Download PNG or Copy.
Gaussian splats, particles and 2D text are not in the render. Parts of node-built materials that are made by the graph come out in neutral grey.
Layers panel
The objects of the current scene, shown as a tree. It has a search field and an add button.
On each row:
- the checkbox turns the object on or off. Objects that are off, and everything inside them, look dimmed;
- the eye shows or hides it;
- double-click to rename;
- drag to move it into another object or change the order.
Right-click to rename, duplicate or delete.
The eye only hides the object: its scripts keep running and physics still collides with it. The checkbox removes it from the experience completely. Use the eye for an invisible wall and the checkbox for a prize that appears later.
Right-hand panel
Select an object to see its components here, in Element settings.
The components decide what the object is. Add a light component, and it becomes a light. Add a rigid body, and physics starts moving it. → Components
Movable panels
The Patch editor, the Animation and the UI editor open as panels you can move and resize. Dock them at the bottom, float them in a window, or expand them over the whole viewport. Drag an edge to resize.
